I take it that you'd possibly like the ELP and King Crimson box sets for your upcoming 57th birthday?

<font size="3" face="Arial">Nope, never liked ELP and was only somewhat interested in Crimson. I am actually over the whole Prog thing, and never listen to it anymore. That stuff really kills your interest in it if you listen to too much of it.

I don't like the term Art Rock as it sounds pretentious (which the style is very much so) and very Art Phag like.

Stevie was still gracious to his fans.

I still consider the 'late 80s hairband shit' to have been glamorous, but that's just me. The market was over-saturated, and there was a fair amount of mediocre acts.

Old bands that are continuing to tour in the UK usually have local talent supporting, so by getting out to the clubs I still get to see a fair share of promising new bands (at least UK ones).

I don't think attacking other styles of music will stop glam being a 'camp joke'. I do like some nu-metal and pop-punk stuff as well. I just think we should be more positive about the stuff that keeps us into glam, rather than beating down on the stuff we don't like.

I'll try to stop taking the piss out of the Darkness, but I just can't take the sparkly leotards seriously.
<font size="3" face="Arial">I never meant that attacking would do what you say. What I was trying to say was that keeping "glam" thought of in people's minds as being lame, late 1980s "hairbands" would leave things open to ridicule in the sense of that alone.

The Darkness is a camp joke themselves. They are only getting publicity because the media sees them that way. They may or may not be taking the piss, but I do give them credit for being able to manipulate the barking, panting puppies in the media the way they have.

Thanks to "post-modernism", it will be impossible to tell who is serious and who isn't.

Why, even listening, you will understand how unworthy you are to be in their presence. It will be like going to a Yngwie concert but without all that distracting talent. lmao

Why must we endlessly analyze this??? Who gives a rats ass who agree's with our personal likes/dislikes,etc. I think this board is getting stagnant for sure, nothing new EVER. I am listening to newer stuff with an open ear and mind. I will not however come here and look for validation on my musical tastes(or anything else for that matter)but it would be nice to discuss something other than the same 10 topics which seem to be endlessly re-arranged or engage in the same pissing contests OVER AND OVER...Siiiighhhh.

So start the ball rolling then if you feel that strongly about it.

Any new bands you can recommend to us people living in the Dark Ages (well, me apparently)?

I made a post and it kept people busy for a couple of days. Make a new topic and don't bump this if it doesn't interest you.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but you know how these things drag out.

If people want this place to liven up, they've gotta do something about it.
